Survey reveals need to close SaaS data protection gap

Organizations increasingly rely on data from mission-critical SaaS applications like Microsoft 365, but who’s responsible for protecting it?

Unfortunately, a lack of clarity has created a “data protection gap” that puts organizations at risk.

ESG recently surveyed 398 IT professionals familiar with and/or responsible for SaaS data protection technology decisions. They found:

• 55% of organizations report losing SaaS data in the past year
• Closing the "protection gap" may reduce future data loss, compliance and government violations, and operational risk
• 75% of respondents report a data loss tolerance (RPO) of less than 1 hour for mission-critical SaaS applications like Microsoft 365
