Blue meets green: Why IBM and Cohesity are collaborating now

It’s big news when blue meets green.

Last month I wrote about how our modern platform is disrupting the worlds of data security and management, and I already have more exciting news to share.

We’ve just announced a new data security and resiliency collaboration with IBM. This relationship will help enterprises around the world reduce the risks posed by breaches and cyberattacks. (For more on this, check out the video discussion below featuring myself and expert speakers Charles Henderson, Global Managing Partner and Head of X-Force at IBM, and Denis Kennelly, GM of Storage at IBM.)

The stakes of protecting enterprise data couldn’t be higher. The threat landscape is changing more quickly than ever, with 20 ransomware attempts every second. The savvy executives I know realize it’s not a matter of if, but when. The timing of this deal reflects our continued urgency to confront this global threat, and to do so hand-in-hand with our partners. As I’ve said before, no one vendor can solve these complex challenges on their own. It takes a village, and a village is what we are creating.

This new relationship with IBM is a big win for enterprise leaders who want to improve their security posture. Let’s take a closer look. Of course, we have deep respect for IBM’s brand and reputation in the market. But it goes further than that. IBM’s impressive storage portfolio, forward-looking vision, global reach, and client intimacy are world-class. When you combine that with Cohesity’s technology leadership position in data security and management, together you have a phenomenal match of capabilities and scale that will allow clients to benefit from the best that Cohesity and IBM have to offer.

It’s never been easier to implement best-in-class protection against ransomware and other cyber threats.

Why IBM picked us and why now

When our founder and chief technology and product officer, Mohit Aron, and I first met with IBM, I knew the implication of this partnership could be massive for organizations globally. But, I also knew that IBM had their pick of collaborators in the data security and management space. They picked us.

And here’s why.

Cohesity continues to disrupt the data security and management market, and more and more enterprises are placing their trust in us for data security and management. We’re winning for three simple reasons:

#1: We have superior tech.

Our products deliver simplicity, security, and scalability like no other. That’s why 40% of the FORTUNE 100 and 6 of the FORTUNE 10 chose Cohesity.

Industry analysts also recognize our innovation. Just last week, we were named a Leader in the Omdia Universe: Protecting and Recovering Data in the Cloud Era, 2022–23 report. We earned the top capability score thanks to our high ratings in solution breadth, roadmap and strategy, and solution capability. This adds to a long list of leadership and enviable positions in other reports from Gartner, Forrester, IDC, GigaOm and others.

#2: We have a stellar track record with customers.

Winning customers is one thing; making them successful is another. We translate our simplicity, security, and scalability differentiation into powerful TCO and ROI for our customers.

With a modern, software-defined solution, our customers can enjoy a massively lower total cost of ownership compared to traditional backup offerings. And when a ransomware attack comes, our ROI shines through with our instant restore capabilities when you need to recover quickly at enterprise scale.

#3: Our vision for data security and management is highly differentiated.

What I hear time and time again from customers is that they are coming to us because we are doing something no other vendor can do. We are removing many of the complexities often associated with data security and management. Customers are sick and tired of stitching together a patch quilt of point products only to find out they still have gaps that put them at risk.

We have changed the status quo by delivering data security and management in a single safe, scalable environment. Our vision is based on five pillars: data protection, data security, data mobility, data access, and data insights.

I’m excited about the reception our top data security features have received so far in the market. These include:

  • Award-winning cyber vaulting
  • Threat scanning and intelligence
  • SOC integration
  • Intelligent classification

And did I mention the Data Security Alliance? We’re proud to be part of this collective of data security and services companies helping enterprises win the war against cyberattacks.

Taken together, this is our value prop to the market, and it’s what I talk about every day to our customers, partners, and employees. I even recorded a video, which you can watch below.

To IBM customers, we’re honored and pleased to work with IBM to help organizations strengthen their cyber resilience in the face of evolving sophisticated adversaries, and look forward to building the relationship to benefit many clients across the world. We look forward to showing you how our new solution can protect your data estate.

To Cohesity customers, this news reaffirms that you made the right decision to trust us for your data protection and recovery.

To our partners, IBM is a powerful addition to our ecosystem. Data security and management is a team sport, and IBM will help us all win together.

And, if we’re not yet working together, we should talk! We would be delighted to have the opportunity to prove that Cohesity is the best choice for your enterprise.
