CEO and President
Sanjay Poonen leads Cohesity as Chief Executive Officer and President, driving the company's mission to protect, secure and provide insights into the world’s data so that the largest organizations in the world can rely on Cohesity for their resilience. A proven business executive with more than 25 years of experience scaling multi-billion-dollar enterprises, Sanjay brings a rare combination of technical depth, global sales leadership, and strategic vision to Cohesity.
Prior to Cohesity, Sanjay served as COO at VMware, where he oversaw sales, marketing, services, and alliances—helping double the company's revenue from approximately $6B to $12B. He was instrumental in architecting VMware's landmark cloud partnerships with AWS, Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, and led the End-User Computing business, including the acquisition of AirWatch. Prior to VMware, Sanjay served as President of SAP, leading Applications, Industries, and Platform teams across engineering and sales, contributing to growth from approximately $10B to $20B in revenue. He began his career as a software engineer at Microsoft and Apple.
Sanjay serves on the Supervisory Board of Philips and the Board of Snyk. He holds three patents, an MBA from Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar, top 5%), a master's degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, and Engineering from Dartmouth College, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
CFO and COO
Eric Brown serves as CFO and COO of Cohesity, overseeing finance, IT, operations, and M&A integration. With more than 25 years of technology industry experience spanning security, data analytics, data management, collaboration, and interactive entertainment, Eric has built a track record of scaling high-performing teams and delivering consistent growth with operating margin expansion.
Prior to Cohesity, Eric led the successful IPO of Informatica as CFO, raising $1 billion in proceeds at a $10 billion enterprise value. He has held CFO roles at Electronic Arts, McAfee, and Polycom. Eric co-founded an AI and data mining company with MIT classmates early in his career—a foundation that continues to inform his technology-forward approach to financial leadership.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Management Science from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Chief Revenue Officer
Kit Beall serves as Chief Revenue Officer at Cohesity, where he leads the company’s Worldwide Field Organization (WWFO), including global Sales, Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Channels, Alliances, and Enablement. He is responsible for scaling Cohesity’s go-to-market strategy and accelerating growth as the company expands its leadership in AI-powered data security.
A seasoned go-to-market executive with more than three decades of experience, Kit is known for building high-performance, customer-centric organizations and evolving enterprise sales models to align with major technology shifts—from infrastructure to cloud, and now to data security and AI-driven platforms.
Prior to Cohesity, Kit served as Senior Vice President of Global Accounts and Telcos at VMware, where he led the company’s largest and most strategic customer relationships and shaped engagement models for complex, global enterprises. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Uhana and Cisco, driving growth across enterprise and service provider markets.
Kit is a patent holder in VoIP technology and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science from Gettysburg College.
Chief Marketing Officer
Carol Carpenter serves as Chief Marketing Officer at Cohesity, leading the company's Global Marketing organization. A seasoned marketing executive with experience as CMO, GM, and CEO across both large enterprises and high-growth companies, Carol brings a proven ability to build, scale, and transform marketing functions.
Most recently, Carol served as CMO at Unity, the real-time 3D software engine, and prior to that as CMO at VMware, where her teams drove the company's transformation to a multi-cloud model. She has also held leadership roles at Google Cloud and Trend Micro.
Carol is dedicated to developing the next generation of marketing talent and continues to mentor emerging leaders through the Harvard Business School Women's Entrepreneurship Program and Monte Jade, an AAPI professional organization.
Carol holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Chief People Officer
Rebecca Adams serves as Chief People Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Cohesity, leading people strategy, global talent acquisition, leadership development, belonging, performance management, organizational design, total rewards, people operations, and workplace strategy. Rebecca is a trusted strategic advisor with more than 20 years of expertise in business transformation, change management, and building high-performance cultures.
Prior to Cohesity, Rebecca held leadership and operational roles across marketing, sales, and product operations at VMware, SAP, Business Objects, and Informatica.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Bridgewater State University and certifications in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and Human Resource Management from the University of the Pacific.
Chief Customer Officer
Walter Angerer serves as Chief Customer Officer at Cohesity, leading the company’s global customer organization to help customers achieve successful outcomes and realize long-term value. He oversees customer success, support, services, and customer experience, ensuring strong alignment across the post-sales lifecycle.
A seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in enterprise software, Walter brings deep expertise in scaling global organizations and driving execution across product, engineering, sales, and customer-facing teams.
Prior to his current role, Walter served as Chief Development Officer at Cohesity, where he led the company’s product strategy and execution across its portfolio.
Before Cohesity, Walter was Senior Vice President of Engineering at Veritas, where he led the NetBackup product line. He previously partnered with Toba Capital, founding VC-backed startup Parsec Labs and serving as CEO of Quorum. Earlier in his career, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager at Quest Software, a Dell company.
Walter holds a Master’s degree in Atomic and Nuclear Physics from Johannes Kepler University in Austria and is the inventor of multiple patents in data compression and deduplication technologies.
Chief Legal Officer
Tim Robbins serves as Chief Legal Officer at Cohesity, leading the company's global legal function. With 25 years of experience supporting the legal and intellectual property needs of high-growth technology companies, Tim brings deep expertise in corporate strategy, securities, and technology law.
Tim began his legal career at Gunderson Dettmer, advising tech clients and venture capital firms on corporate and securities matters. He subsequently served as General Counsel at Good Technology and as SVP of Licensing at Openwave.
Tim holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Chief Strategy Officer
Sunil Moolchandani serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Cohesity, driving the company's strategic direction as it continues to innovate and redefine the future of cyber resilience. One of Cohesity's earliest employees, Sunil played a foundational role in building and scaling the product from its 1.0 inception through version 5.0, and helped lead the company to $100M in revenue.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning software development, product management, and go-to-market leadership, Sunil brings a uniquely cross-functional perspective to enterprise strategy. He also serves as an advisor to multiple technology startups.
Sunil holds a BSEE with Honors from the University of Mumbai.
Chief Product Officer
Vasu Murthy serves as Chief Product Officer at Cohesity, where he leads product strategy with a mission to help organizations worldwide build resilience against data threats. A proven product executive with more than 25 years of experience, Vasu has built and scaled products across every stage of growth—from day-zero startups to global public companies.
Most recently, Vasu served as Vice President of Products at Rubrik, where he oversaw the core product, platform, and partnerships portfolio, contributing to 10x ARR growth over six years and leading transformation across three strategic dimensions: software to subscription, on-premises to cloud, and backup to data security. Previously, he served as VP of Products for Oracle's Analytics Platform, launching multiple $100M+ products and driving market-leading innovation. He joined Oracle through its acquisition of DataScaler, an in-memory database company he co-founded.
Vasu is a graduate of IIT Kharagpur, where he earned the distinction of JBNSTS Scholar—an honor awarded to only ten students in the state.
SVP, DataProtect & Gaia Engineering
Amit Bothra serves as SVP, DataProtect & Gaia Engineering at Cohesity, where he leads the company’s product engineering organization. He is responsible for driving innovation and execution across the Cohesity DataProtect and AI products, with a focus on building scalable, high-performance systems that help customers securely manage and derive value from their data.
Amit brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure and storage systems, with deep expertise in distributed systems, file systems, and data platforms. He has a strong track record of building and scaling global engineering teams and delivering complex products from concept through commercialization.
Prior to Cohesity, Amit held multiple senior leadership roles at Pure Storage, including Head of Engineering. In this role, he led early-stage product development in the IaaS space, scaled the company’s Prague R&D center, and drove innovation across several product lines. Earlier at Pure Storage, as Senior Director of Engineering, he played a key role in scaling the FlashBlade and FlashArray businesses and delivering industry-leading solutions for unstructured data.
Previously, Amit served as Vice President of Engineering at Skyera, where he built a software platform optimized for flash storage. He also held senior engineering roles at Harmonic and ONStor, and began his career at Veritas and IBM, contributing to foundational technologies in file systems and operating systems.
Amit holds a BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.
SVP, Cloud, Security & NetBackup Engineering
Raj Kiran is SVP, Cloud, Security & NetBackup Engineering at Cohesity, where he leads the development and delivery of the company’s core platform and services. He is responsible for engineering the products that underpin Cohesity’s cloud, data security, and AI-driven capabilities, and for building high-performing, globally distributed engineering teams.
Prior to this role, Raj served as SVP of Global Technical Support & Digital Innovation at Cohesity, where he led a global support and innovation organization and drove the modernization of support into a more scalable, AI-enabled function. Under his leadership, the organization maintained strong customer satisfaction and retention metrics, including NPS above 85 and CSAT above 9.5.
Raj brings more than 20 years of experience across engineering, cloud infrastructure, and customer experience. Prior to Cohesity, he was Vice President of Engineering at ThoughtSpot, where he played a key role in the company’s transition to a cloud-native SaaS platform, leading global teams across infrastructure, delivery, and support. Earlier in his career, he held senior engineering and customer experience leadership roles at Cisco and Juniper Networks, leading large, globally distributed teams and supporting complex service provider environments.
He holds an MBA and completed the General Management Program at The Wharton School. He also earned his undergraduate degree from the Institution of Electronics and Telecom Engineers in New Delhi and is an advisor and investor in early-stage technology companies.
Founder Emeritus
Mohit has over 20 years of experience in building scalable, high- performance distributed systems, and has been attributed as the father of hyperconvergence. Mohit founded Cohesity in 2013 and has grown the company into a leading provider of next-gen data management. He also co-founded Nutanix as the CTO, now a public company and leader in hyperconverged technology, in 2009. Prior to co-founding Nutanix, Mohit was at Google as a lead developer on the Google File System, the software that manages data on Google’s large scale clusters. Aron graduated with a Ph.D. in computer science from Rice University with a focus on distributed systems. He also holds a bachelor of science in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi India. In 2018, he received the “Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award” from Rice University and also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT Delhi in 2019.
