Giving Back: Cohesity Inside Sales and IT Teams Put the Care in Care Packages
Last year around this time, our Inside Sales HQ Team got together, grabbed some bikes, and delivered eighty bagged lunches to help feed some homeless folks who live in the streets of downtown San Jose, CA around our offices. The so-called “Sammich Run” was such a success, we decided to do something similar this year.
This time, instead of bagged lunches, we put together 120 care packages, which included:
- Water Bottle
- Granola Bars
- Mylar Blanket
- Ziplock bags
- Sanitizing wipes
- Gummie Fruit Packs
The care package idea was the brainchild of Angela Franklin from Cohesity’s IT Department, as this is something she has done in the past. And because the IT Department joined with the Inside Sales West Coast team this year, we also had more people participating … which of course means more fun.
Why did we do this? It’s well known that Cohesity cares about our customers and that Customer Obsession is a priority. We also care about our community, and we want to make a positive impact. Our culture is very positive here at HQ, so by blogging about our experience handing out care packages, we hope to help inspire others to team up together for future projects.
We take a lot of things for granted in our lives, so by helping others, and seeing the conditions of those in need, it makes us more grateful for what we have. That one random act of kindness could really turn someone’s day around and change their lives.
“Handing out these care packages was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had in my professional career. Real eye-opener.”
– Braden Connolly
“Working at Cohesity, we are overwhelmed with perks that allow us to enjoy work/life balance. Taking the initiative and time to put together bags filled with things we take for granted and hand them out to those who may be homeless, but still need to maintain their dignity is a practice in gratitude.”
– Celeste Garcia
“’Never look down on anybody unless you’re helping them up’- by Jesse Jackson comes to mind when we do these types of projects. It’s about how we help others and not just ourselves. There are many people in this world that just ONE little thing could completely turn their lives around and I hope that we were able to accomplish that.”
– Tyler Livingstone
“You don’t know what you have or how grateful you should be until you participate in an activity like this.”
– Chris Costello
“Today, I’m reminded that human is human. We often look past them, with judgement and fear but they are just like us with a different circumstance. Blessed to be able to give back a little.”
– Jason Piamonte
