Cohesity and Microsoft: Unleashing the future of data security, AI, and cloud

We’ve just made an exciting announcement about Cohesity’s expanded relationship with Microsoft across security, AI, and cloud, and I want to share a few thoughts. These observations will be especially relevant to all the CIOs and CISOs I’ve been meeting with recently.

Our next chapter with Microsoft will help you broaden and harden data security in all you do with Microsoft today. Because our products are more closely integrated with Azure and M365 than ever before, you can now improve your security posture and reduce your risk from cyber threats across even more of your IT estate. We’re also innovating with Microsoft and OpenAI to harness the power of AI in highly pragmatic ways—that are still focused squarely on our mission to extract more value from your enterprise data. I’ll talk more about AI in a bit.

We’re seizing this moment to deepen our ties

Here are three key takeaways I want to share with you about this announcement.

1. Team up. Security is a team sport and our ecosystem just got stronger with Microsoft.

My friend Charlie Bell at Microsoft says that he has “always believed it takes a village to fight the cyber threat landscape.”

I couldn’t agree more. That’s why Cohesity is building the best security ecosystem in our industry.

The Cohesity Data Cloud is an API-first data platform, built for enterprise scale. This includes leading capabilities for cyber vaulting, threat intelligence, and data classification. Customers tell us their resulting insights are highly valuable. They’re golden nuggets you’ll want to propagate to the Security Operations Center.

Now, with Cohesity’s new integration with Microsoft Sentinel, their cloud-native SIEM, you can make these insights available to your security team when minutes count.

We have integrated with your most important IT vendors to give you and your teams simplicity and actionable insight into what’s happening across your data estate. We have many integrations today, and we’re adding more all the time.

Watch the video below for my conversation with Charlie Bell, Executive Vice President for Microsoft Security, discussing how Cohesity and Microsoft improve data security in the cloud era.

2. Sleep better. Protecting and recovering rapidly from cyber threats just got easier with Microsoft.

Cohesity is winning in the market because our products have unrivaled scale, security, and simplicity. Enterprises use our solutions to protect mission-critical data wherever it’s hosted—in the data center, at the edge, or in the cloud. And the journey to a stronger data security posture often starts with protecting M365 and workloads running on Azure. Since 2020 we’ve been protecting your Microsoft investment through our leading data protection software. In 2021, we made it even easier with backup as a service when you want Cohesity to manage data protection for M365.

Now, we’ve just made it easier than ever for your teams to protect your company’s data and apps—and to streamline your ability to reduce the risk from ransomware attacks and other cyber threats.

Get more from your Microsoft investment through Cohesity FortKnox, our award-winning cyber vaulting as a service, as well as backup as a service for M365—now both available on Azure.

When you use the Cohesity platform to secure and manage data across your portfolio, you’ll improve operational efficiency, get faster ROI, and realize superior TCO.

3. Act faster. Using AI to make rapid and informed decisions just got simpler with Microsoft.

Everyone is buzzing about AI, and I’m one of them. I get it. Every enterprise I talk to is working to bring AI into their business for a competitive advantage. AI is at the top of the hype cycle right now, so it’s easy to get distracted by all the exciting possibilities. To every CIO and CISO, I would encourage you to be very pragmatic in your strategy.

At Cohesity, we’ve embedded machine learning in our products for quite some time. Customers use our AI/ML capabilities for threat visibility, proactive recommendations, and smart operations. In fact, our platform is uniquely AI-friendly. We’ve built a rich index of metadata that can then be searched instantly by your employees, while respecting strict access controls.

Microsoft and Cohesity believe that we can usher in a new era in data security and management with AI. We’re working together to use AI in new ways to help IT and security teams respond to a breach—faster and with improved accuracy.

So, our investments in AI are deepening with Microsoft.

We’re focused on some very core use cases to help CIOs and CISO better manage risk.

For example, if you work at a bank, you may want to know what your company did the last time a security breach occurred. If this happened more than a few years ago, there’s probably no one there that remembers all the details. We’re working to bring AI to your secondary data to summarize the details of such an event so you improve how you handle the current situation.

And that’s just one example.

It’s an exciting time for us here at Cohesity. I invite you to watch the videos below featuring Cohesity and Microsoft leadership to learn more about our relationship, and how we’re working together to help you improve how you secure and manage your enterprise data.
