Building cyber resilience with the Cohesity C6200 Series

Not just a hardware refresh. The 6200 Series is designed to solve the performance, security, and scalability challenges facing modern enterprises.

C6200

Your backup data is a target for cyberattackers. For those who choose to store their vital corporate data on-premises, hardware matters. It doesn’t just store data—it’s the physical foundation for safeguarding data. Hardware plays a vital and often overlooked role in the essential pillars of data protection, security, and recoverability. The speed, integrity, and reliability of hardware is what separates cyber resilience—the ability for your business to get back up and running after an attack—from disruption.

A platform engineered for modern data resilience

Hardware designed for yesterday’s workloads can buckle under the strain of modern throughput demands. That’s why we’re proud to announce the Cohesity C6200 Appliance Series. The next generation of Cohesity’s converged appliance family, the C6200 Series is the secure, high-performance hardware foundation for our platform, Cohesity Data Cloud. The C6200 Series carries forward the dependability of the C6000, while introducing significant advancements in architecture, performance, and resilience.

It’s not just another hardware refresh, but a secure foundation designed to solve the performance, security, and scalability challenges facing modern enterprises as they evolve their resilience strategies.

The C6200 is designed for organizations that want to:

  • Modernize backup and recovery infrastructure without disruption.
  • Strengthen cyber resilience with hardware-verified security.
  • Consolidate data protection, file, and object workloads on a unified platform.

For enterprises scaling their secondary data footprint beyond petabytes, these changes in the architecture make capacity planning more predictable and help simplify decisions around future expansion.

How the C6200 solves real customer problems

We designed the C6200 based on direct input from field engineers and customers, focusing on simplifying operations, boosting performance, and embedding security at the core.

Security forged in hardware

Cyberattacks often target backup data, seeking to compromise the very systems meant to restore order. The C6200 defends against that escalation by embedding protection in hardware. The Hardware Root of Trust verifies its firmware integrity at the earliest stage, providing fundamental security from the ground up. In addition, features like hardware-based encryption will be supported on specific C6200 models with SED HDDs and SSDs, as a complementary solution to software-based encryption.

Combined with Cohesity DataProtect, and FortKnox,  these controls form a unified recovery framework. They combine trusted hardware and isolated clean copies into a layered defense designed to hold strong even if an environment is compromised. Attackers may reach the perimeter, but they do not reach your valuable data.

Keeping pace with relentless data growth

As data sets continue to expand, traditional backup appliances hit performance limits, leading to frustratingly long backup windows and slow restores. The C6200 alleviates bottlenecks with a state-of-the-art architecture built for today’s data velocity.

  • The C6200 is built on 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors, DDR5 memory, and PCIe Gen 5 connectivity. Internal testing shows significantly improved performance compared to the C6000.
  • With a redesigned 2U chassis supporting up to 288 TB of raw capacity per node, customers gain more storage per node, maximizing efficiency without expanding footprint.

This performance uplift can dramatically shorten backup windows, accelerate restores, and allow IT teams to handle heavier workloads with fewer nodes.

Simplifying operations and reducing risk

Operational complexity can create hidden vulnerabilities and undermines resilience. Managing backup hardware and software from separate vendors means you're caught in the middle when things go wrong—a potentially costly blame game that adds hours or days to your recovery time. The C6200 addresses this through unified Cohesity support:

One contract: You get a single, simplified support agreement that covers both the C6200 hardware and the Cohesity software. When you have an issue, you call one number, and the resolution process starts immediately, eliminating the time lost in vendor handoffs.

Investment flexibility: Integration with a certified set of 3rd-party vendor nodes allows mixed clusters, giving enterprises flexibility to modernize clusters gradually rather than through full replacement or data migration risks.

Customer-driven design: Every physical aspect, including front-load drive bays and improved airflow, reflects direct input from customers and field engineers. This makes maintenance simpler, safer, and faster, reflecting resilience through physical design that translates into predictable uptime.

The system accepts configuration updates without extended downtime, supported on Cohesity version 7.3.

C6200 Series models

Choose the model that fits your footprint and growth plan. All models include 5th Gen Intel CPUs, DDR5 memory, NVMe acceleration, and a 2U resilient chassis. SED options vary by SKU.

  • C6208S: Up to 96 TB raw per node. Ideal for smaller footprints or edge deployments.
  • C6216S: Up to 192 TB raw per node. Balanced performance and capacity for mainstream workloads.
  • C6224: Up to 288 TB raw per node. High-density for storage-heavy environments.

Modern infrastructure for a threat-filled world

The Cohesity C6200 Series isn’t just about better performance or denser storage. It’s about giving IT and security leaders a platform built for confidence. It brings together next-generation compute, verified security, and streamlined operation to meet that expectation.

It allows infrastructure leaders to move from reaction to anticipation - to treat protection as architecture, not as an afterthought. This is infrastructure built for the decade ahead: unified, cyber-resilient, and adaptable to workloads that never rest.
