From Backup to a Secondary Storage Management Environment: Sensirion Selects Flexible, Hyperconverged Cohesity DataPlatform

Barcelona – Nov. 5, 2018 – Cohesity, the leader of hyperconverged secondary storage, today announced that Sensirion AG, one of the leading manufacturers of digital microsensors and sensor systems, has deployed Cohesity technology.

With backup storage in need of expansion and operating costs on the rise, Sensirion’s executives were on the lookout for a new storage solution. In addition, the tier 1 flash capacity was at its limit and had to either be expanded or better utilized. Sensirion’s executives entered into a multiple-stage selection process based on a number of key criteria. First, the new solution had to allow both snapshots from the Pure Storage flash-based primary storage solution and SMB targets. Furthermore, archiving into the cloud needed to be an option, allowing the company to shrink its tape infrastructure to a minimum.

During the proof of concept, Cohesity won Sensirion’s IT professionals over with its rapid and easy installation. Cohesity DataProtect also completed backups significantly faster than the existing solution had ever done. In addition, the technology showed a convincingly good performance in restore operations.

Cohesity also had more to offer than just a simple backup solution. The company’s portfolio encompassed other application options as well—including a management environment for secondary storage, with archiving, analytics, file and object storage, and testing facilities. In addition, Sensirion appreciates the auditing functionality, as they no longer have to set up their own reports, which saves a lot of time.

“For us, Cohesity’s ease of deployment, its operational simplicity, and the professional support were the deciding factors. We see additional potential to develop this backup solution into a secondary storage management environment—across sites and with cloud integration,” said Andreas Kühne, lead global IT infrastructure services, Sensirion AG.

The Cohesity concept was developed and realized by Swiss IT system integrator Infoniqa. The information management and backup specialist has been selling Cohesity solutions since early 2017. Hyperconverged secondary storage from Cohesity consolidates data siloes and eliminates redundant data while making data available for efficient utilization, for example, with backups, archiving test/dev, information analytics, or disaster recovery. Cohesity can be deployed in the cloud as well as in any combination of on-premises, private cloud, or public cloud.
