New technology innovations by Cohesity and HPE
New: Cohesity support for HPE Virtual Machine (VM) Essentials workloads for unified virtualization management
Cohesity recently announced support for HPE VM Essentials workloads to enable a simplified hypervisor management experience. This allows joint customers to manage HPE VM Essentials and VMware vSphere environments through a single, unified interface, reducing complexity and operational overhead.
Here are some ways for joint customers to improve their VM data protection experience with this new capability:
- Stronger VM security: Prevent cyber threats from spreading across VMs.
- Smarter data protection: Use AI to automate backups, enhance security, and speed up recovery.
- Lower costs with flexibility: Cut costs and avoid vendor lock-in by managing workloads across platforms.
- Efficient and scalable storage: Reduce silos and scale easily with advanced deduplication and compression.
- Simplified IT operations: Streamline infrastructure management to boost IT productivity.
New: HPE is the first OEM certified by Cohesity for Helios self-managed deployments
Cohesity recently announced Helios Self-Managed v1.0.0—deployed on rack appliances in a customer’s data center. HPE customers now have access to the first OEM servers (HPE DL380 Gen 11 and DL325 Gen 11) certified by Cohesity to deploy Helios in self-managed mode.
The new deployment model brings Helios SaaS capabilities to on-premises environments, offering a consistent management experience across Cohesity deployments. Designed for large enterprises with petabytes of data, remote edge locations, or sites with limited cloud connectivity, this option supports customers with strict compliance, security, or data sovereignty requirements. The Helios self-managed deployment delivers greater feature parity with the SaaS version, which can enable centralized management, anomaly detection, quorum, and rich data insights. While this model enhances flexibility for specialized use cases, all customers are encouraged to use Helios SaaS for optimal performance, user experience, and security. Helios self-managed is recommended only for dark sites or those with specific regulatory constraints.
More information is available in the Helios Self-Managed user guide.
New: Cohesity supports array integration with HPE Alletra and Primera servers for simplified virtual machine backups
Starting with Cohesity release 7.2.2_u1, Cohesity has added support for array snapshot integration with:
- HPE Alletra-MP B10000
- HPE Alletra-MP
- HPE Alletra 9000
- HPE Primera
This new functionality allows VMware workloads to offload snapshots from the hypervisor to the storage array. As a result of this integration customers no longer need to worry about possibly stunning VMs during backup operations. As a result, backups can be taken more often, giving customers more frequent recovery points, and potentially reducing how much data would be lost in the event you need to restore.
New: Cohesity adds HPE utilities to support orchestrated firmware updates
Starting with Cohesity releases 7.2.2_u1 and 7.1.2_u4, Cohesity has added Smart Update Tools (SUT) and Agentless Management Service (AMS)—software utilities used in HPE server environments for firmware and software updates—to Cohesity’s code. This allows customers who use HPE’s licensed applications HPE OneView or HPE Compute Ops Manager (COM) to orchestrate firmware updates of their joint Cohesity-HPE clusters. The utilities significantly simplify IT operations and can save time and resources for IT teams. Documentation on this new functionality will be published soon.
Coming soon: Cohesity service integration with HPE GSEM for improved customer service experience*
Joint Cohesity and HPE customers will soon be able to enjoy a simpler, easier customer support experience with shared ticket management, through the integration of HPE Global Service Event Management (GSEM) tool with Cohesity Salesforce. Here are some benefits that customers can look forward to:
- Seamless experience: Easier collaboration between Cohesity and HPE support teams, making the customer support journey smoother and more connected. The GSEM tool integration will remove duplication of work by reducing multiple tickets between the two companies.
- Faster responses: Support teams on both sides will be able to work more efficiently behind the scenes, ensuring that tickets are routed to the right teams, sharing logs, and resolving customer tickets quickly.
- Smarter support: Parties will be able to see ticket updates in real time. Tickets will require less manual intervention during routing and communications can be housed in a centralized system.
*Anticipated capabilities are expected to be generally available in the second half of calendar year 2025.
Coming soon: HPE servers certified for Cohesity Gaia self-managed on-premises helping to enable easier, faster data insights*
Cohesity recently announced one of the industry’s first AI-powered search capabilities for backup data stored on-premises. Cohesity and HPE customers will soon be able to deploy Cohesity Gaia—our AI-powered conversational data assistant—on HPE environments in two modes:
- Option 1: Build your own Gaia self-managed environment with HPE servers and Nvidia GPUs.
- Option 2: Deploy Gaia self-managed on HPE Private Cloud AI—a turnkey, cloud-based solution co-developed by HPE and NVIDIA.
Extending Cohesity Gaia to data stored on-prem empowers enterprises to tap into more high-quality data while remaining fully in control of their infrastructure. This is particularly useful to customers who prefer to have valuable, critical data remain on-prem to meet security, compliance, and performance requirements.
*Anticipated capabilities are expected to be generally available in the second half of calendar year 2025.
