New options to increase cyber resilience for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

We are excited to announce the launch of our newest Marketplace app, SecureView. With SecureView, you can now effortlessly transfer files via SFTP and perform file-based backups of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) components, all within a secure environment.

SecureView: Secure data transfer and backup

The SecureView app enables seamless file transfers using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), paired with robust data protection for key VCF components. Designed with a user-friendly interface, this app streamlines the configuration of SFTP access to Cohesity’s storage infrastructure, allowing quick and efficient file transfers through the underlying NFS mount.

The app operates on a Cohesity cluster, with the NFS view mounted to it. Users must first create Data and Config Cohesity views as prerequisites. All data is stored in the Data View, while metadata (such as SFTP users config ) is stored in the Config View.

Key features of the SecureView app

• Back up VCF components: The SecureView app can do file-based backups for VCF components to NFS views. The current version of the app can be used for backup.
  1. SDDC Manager: Secure the backbone of your cloud infrastructure by backing up the management layer responsible for provisioning and operating VMware environments.
  2. vCenter: Protect your central management platform for virtualized environments, ensuring seamless recovery of your vCenter configurations and data.
  3. NSX T cluster: Back up NSX-T, the network virtualization platform, ensuring that your security policies and network configurations are recoverable without hassle.

• Secure file transfers via SFTP: Transfer your files safely and efficiently using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). With the app’s integration into Cohesity’s native NFS views, users can confidently manage file transfers knowing their data is securely transmitted and stored.
• Intuitive, user-friendly setup: SecureView’s user interface is designed with simplicity in mind. You don’t need to be a technical expert to configure and manage SFTP user access. With just a few clicks, you can easily set up SFTP access to the Cohesity storage infrastructure, allowing your team to initiate secure file transfers quickly. The app’s streamlined design reduces setup time and operational overhead, letting you focus on core business activities while ensuring your data is safely managed.
