CEO and President
Sanjay Poonen leads Cohesity as Chief Executive Officer and President, driving the company's mission to protect, secure and provide insights into the world’s data so that the largest organizations in the world can rely on Cohesity for their resilience. A proven business executive with more than 25 years of experience scaling multi-billion-dollar enterprises, Sanjay brings a rare combination of technical depth, global sales leadership, and strategic vision to Cohesity.
Prior to Cohesity, Sanjay served as COO at VMware, where he oversaw sales, marketing, services, and alliances—helping double the company's revenue from approximately $6B to $12B. He was instrumental in architecting VMware's landmark cloud partnerships with AWS, Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, and led the End-User Computing business, including the acquisition of AirWatch. Prior to VMware, Sanjay served as President of SAP, leading Applications, Industries, and Platform teams across engineering and sales, contributing to growth from approximately $10B to $20B in revenue. He began his career as a software engineer at Microsoft and Apple.
Sanjay serves on the Supervisory Board of Philips and the Board of Snyk. He holds two patents, an MBA from Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar, top 5%), a master's degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, and Engineering from Dartmouth College, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
CFO and COO
Eric Brown serves as CFO and COO of Cohesity, overseeing finance, IT, operations, and M&A integration. With more than 25 years of technology industry experience spanning security, data analytics, data management, collaboration, and interactive entertainment, Eric has built a track record of scaling high-performing teams and delivering consistent growth with operating margin expansion.
Prior to Cohesity, Eric led the successful IPO of Informatica as CFO, raising $1 billion in proceeds at a $10 billion enterprise value. He has held CFO roles at Electronic Arts, McAfee, and Polycom. Eric co-founded an AI and data mining company with MIT classmates early in his career—a foundation that continues to inform his technology-forward approach to financial leadership.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Management Science from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Chief Revenue Officer
As Chief Revenue Officer, Kit leads Cohesity’s Worldwide Field Organization (WWFO) and is responsible for global Sales, Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Channels, Alliances, and Enablement.Prior to that, Kit was Senior Vice President of global accounts and telcos at VMware, where he was responsible for VMware’s largest and most strategic global customers, in addition to leading some of the largest sales verticals.Over the past three decades, Kit has held leadership roles across a range of innovative technology companies, including VMware, Uhana, and Cisco. With a focus on building high-performing, diverse teams, he brings a combination of enterprise sales expertise and technical acumen to the organization.Kit is a patent holder in VoIP technology and received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science from Gettysburg College.
Chief Marketing Officer
Carol Carpenter serves as Chief Marketing Officer at Cohesity, leading the company's Global Marketing organization. A seasoned marketing executive with experience as CMO, GM, and CEO across both large enterprises and high-growth companies, Carol brings a proven ability to build, scale, and transform marketing functions.
Most recently, Carol served as CMO at Unity, the real-time 3D software engine, and prior to that as CMO at VMware, where her teams drove the company's transformation to a multi-cloud model. She has also held leadership roles at Google Cloud and Trend Micro.
Carol is dedicated to developing the next generation of marketing talent and continues to mentor emerging leaders through the Harvard Business School Women's Entrepreneurship Program and Monte Jade, an AAPI professional organization.
Carol holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Chief People Officer
Rebecca Adams serves as Chief People Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Cohesity, leading people strategy, global talent acquisition, leadership development, belonging, performance management, organizational design, total rewards, people operations, and workplace strategy. Rebecca is a trusted strategic advisor with more than 20 years of expertise in business transformation, change management, and building high-performance cultures.
Prior to Cohesity, Rebecca held leadership and operational roles across marketing, sales, and product operations at VMware, SAP, Business Objects, and Informatica.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Bridgewater State University and certifications in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and Human Resource Management from the University of the Pacific.
Chief Development Officer
Walter Angerer serves as Chief Development Officer at Cohesity, responsible for leading the vision, strategy, and execution of the Cohesity product portfolio. With more than 25 years of experience in enterprise software, Walter brings deep expertise driving complex, large-scale initiatives across Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Sales.
Prior to Cohesity, Walter served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Veritas, where he led the NetBackup product line. Before Veritas, Walter partnered with Toba Capital, where he evaluated investment opportunities, scaled portfolio companies, and founded VC-backed startup Parsec Labs. He also served as CEO of Quorum on behalf of Toba before launching Speak2Web, a self-funded AI startup. Earlier in his career, Walter served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Quest Software, a Dell company.
Walter holds a Master's degree in Atomic and Nuclear Physics from Johannes Kepler University in Austria and is the inventor of multiple patents in data compression and deduplication technologies.
Chief Customer Experience Officer
Lenny Alugas serves as Chief Customer Experience Officer at Cohesity, ensuring customers maximize the value of their investment through customer success, education, and end-to-end relationship management. An accomplished operations executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience, Lenny has a proven track record of delivering strong, sustainable results across new ventures, turnaround situations, and high-growth expansion.
Prior to Cohesity, Lenny held senior leadership roles at Veritas, Western Union, Symantec, Multitude, Excite@Home, and Hewlett-Packard. At Symantec, over a 12-year tenure, he grew the company's eCommerce business by 21% in a highly competitive market—expanding new online customers by 10% annually through data-driven personalization and platform innovation. He subsequently served as Senior Vice President of Operations at Western Union.
Lenny holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from Dillard University.
Chief Legal Officer
Tim Robbins serves as Chief Legal Officer at Cohesity, leading the company's global legal function. With 25 years of experience supporting the legal and intellectual property needs of high-growth technology companies, Tim brings deep expertise in corporate strategy, securities, and technology law.
Tim began his legal career at Gunderson Dettmer, advising tech clients and venture capital firms on corporate and securities matters. He subsequently served as General Counsel at Good Technology and as SVP of Licensing at Openwave.
Tim holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Chief Product Officer
Vasu Murthy serves as Chief Product Officer at Cohesity, where he leads product strategy with a mission to help organizations worldwide build resilience against data threats. A proven product executive with more than 25 years of experience, Vasu has built and scaled products across every stage of growth—from day-zero startups to global public companies.
Most recently, Vasu served as Vice President of Products at Rubrik, where he oversaw the core product, platform, and partnerships portfolio, contributing to 10x ARR growth over six years and leading transformation across three strategic dimensions: software to subscription, on-premises to cloud, and backup to data security. Previously, he served as VP of Products for Oracle's Analytics Platform, launching multiple $100M+ products and driving market-leading innovation. He joined Oracle through its acquisition of DataScaler, an in-memory database company he co-founded.
Vasu is a graduate of IIT Kharagpur, where he earned the distinction of JBNSTS Scholar—an honor awarded to only ten students in the state.
Chief Strategy Officer
Sunil Moolchandani serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Cohesity, driving the company's strategic direction as it continues to innovate and redefine the future of cyber resilience. One of Cohesity's earliest employees, Sunil played a foundational role in building and scaling the product from its 1.0 inception through version 5.0, and helped lead the company to $100M in revenue.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning software development, product management, and go-to-market leadership, Sunil brings a uniquely cross-functional perspective to enterprise strategy. He also serves as an advisor to multiple technology startups.
Sunil holds a BSEE with Honors from the University of Mumbai.
Chief Technology Officer
As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Cohesity, Anubhav Gupta spearheads the company’s technological vision, guiding the development of cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving challenges of data security, scalability, and resilience.
With a distinguished background in engineering and product strategy, Gupta brings a unique blend of technical depth and strategic foresight to Cohesity’s leadership team. His career spans several high-profile roles across the tech industry, where he built a reputation for driving transformative product initiatives and delivering impactful innovations.
As CTO, Gupta leads Cohesity’s technology roadmap, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of the industry. He oversees architecture, engineering, and product innovation, aligning technical execution with long-term business goals. His leadership is central to Cohesity’s mission to simplify data management while enhancing security, performance, and operational efficiency.
Before joining Cohesity, Anubhav was a founding member for an incubator at Cisco that built a platform for application visibility and zero-trust micro segmentation. Previously, he was an early engineer at Insieme Networks (which was acquired by Cisco) and also served as a software engineer on Google's search quality team. Anubhav holds a bachelor’s in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and a Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, where his research focus was formal methods and machine learning.
Founder Emeritus
Mohit has over 20 years of experience in building scalable, high- performance distributed systems, and has been attributed as the father of hyperconvergence. Mohit founded Cohesity in 2013 and has grown the company into a leading provider of next-gen data management. He also co-founded Nutanix as the CTO, now a public company and leader in hyperconverged technology, in 2009. Prior to co-founding Nutanix, Mohit was at Google as a lead developer on the Google File System, the software that manages data on Google’s large scale clusters. Aron graduated with a Ph.D. in computer science from Rice University with a focus on distributed systems. He also holds a bachelor of science in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi India. In 2018, he received the “Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award” from Rice University and also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT Delhi in 2019.
